Week 12: Amendments 11 - 14
We covered more of the amendments last week--11, 12, 13 and 14--to be exact. Make sure you fill out your Constitution journal for these amendments, and memorize a brief summation of what each amendment is about: for example, Amendement 11 says that citizens of one state can't sue another state. (A little bird told me that you have a cheat sheet in your binder! 😉)
Also, good work prepping for the debate on banning misinformation on social media. I know the question seemed a bit confusing by the way it was worded, but it was a good lesson on the importance of understanding the question before you try to answer it! This is a very hot cultural and political topic right now, so I hope you all learned something interesting from your research!
ASSIGNMENTS:
WRITING: What would life be like without the Constitution?
Think about this and discuss it with your parents. Also, remember some of the books we've read, especially Freedom Factor and Red Scarf Girl to help inspire some ideas.
There's also a great documentary by Dinesh D'Souza available for free on Tubi
Watch America: Imagine the World Without Her (2014) - Free Movies | Tubi (tubitv.com)
which brings up a lot of reasons why the existence of America has made the world a better place. I strongly encourage you all to watch it!
QUIZ: We have our Amendments Quiz (#3) this week, so study up!
PRESENTATIONS: Thanks for teaching us about Tim Ballard and his work in ending slavery and human trafficking, Morgan. This is a huge problem in the world today, and I hope we can all be more active in helping to stop it. We will hear our final presentations from KELLEN on Patrick Henry, and from BRAEDEN on William Bradford. Also, I will post Miah's video presentation on the blog as soon as she sends it to me.
READING: We will be discussing The Tuttle Twins Learn about the Law and The Proper Role of Government on May 19th (which is also the last day of class), so be sure to have some written notes prepared for that. Specifically look for similarities of ideas in the two documents.
DEVOTIONAL: MORGAN
CONSTITUTION JOURNAL: Amendments 15-20
CONSTITUTION BOWL: STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!! Complete your study guide, if you haven't already, and review your notes (from the whole year) and your Constitution Journal.
CANDY TRIVIA:
